Drummer
I am a music enthusiast. I like listening to music, and I love making music.
And when I make music, I try my best to do it humbly with passion and love.
Listening
I grew up on music my brother listened to. Balázs showed me Led Zeppelin and Rush, for example, which remained my life-time influences, followed
by many others. He taught me how to listen to music: Understand what the different instruments do, how they contribute to the song, what
their roles are in a band. And because Balázs played the guitar, I would play air-drums all the time, trying to mimic what a drummer does,
or played on pillows, pots and lids with wooden spoons as drumsticks in my hand.
Balázs brought me to a real drumkit in a school's music room when I was about 8-9 years old. I was hooked.
Drumming
Drumming really started for me when my older brother Péter bought me my first drum kit. On the following
day, I joined my first band.
Drums are the only instruments I have ever studied. My teacher was Zsolt Szentmártoni.
I played the drums in several bands, made gigs, took part in a few recording sessions, from which
I gained valuable experience. And, of course, I played with Balázs, too. I was there when he created Sallang.
The other instruments I play are really only for my own amusement, to complement my own drumming
when I'd like to record some ideas, kind of a stand-in for a band. Occasionally, I can reach the point that
a song is born from all this.
Recording
I have a studio, which is not more than a small practice room with proper soundproofing filled up with my
instruments and some basic recording equipment. This is where I live my passion and run my actual projects: I try to play
and elaborate my ideas, which might eventually turn into songs. This way I am the songwriter, performer, and producer in one.
I learn the process of recording on the go from my own experience and the vast amount of youtube videos made by skilled people
who share their knowledge on music, instruments, gears; and I am very grateful for these.
My favourites are Kenny Gioia (Reaper Mania), Rhett Shull, Bill Hilton, Cody Rahn (Sounds Like A Drum), Joel (DrumDotPizza).
